I think that arrangement (Pi supply for plate, choke input screen supply) is the one often used in the example operating conditions provided in tube info, eg http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/fran ... /6L6GC.pdf
Before that was pointed out (I think it was Steve Conner on a MEF thread) I always wondered how practical implementations were supposed to get a stable supply for the screen ~100V below the plate.
I had envisaged the guys in white coats in the RCA lab using a big multi output bench variable PSU to come up with the data.

I haven't tried the choke fed supply for the screens. I have used a zener referenced mosfet (stabilizer / regulator - non tracking) and a voltage divider referenced mosfet ( tracks plate supply) to drop the voltage for the screens from the plate supply.
