Most of todays capacitor failures stems from manufacturers using under- or marignally rated caps to maximize on profit, - like 85C instead of 105s where these are appropriate......
A french documentary aired last winter showed e.g. Samsung and LG TVs being one of the worst in the market......
Paying 30c instead of 2$ a piece makes a huge difference in volume production.....
The same example is also valid for Iphone batteries... :shock:

Faking caps is just another way of fraud, but forgive me for saying so, but this community is partly to be blamed itself, based on the eternal quest for woodoo components... and the will to pay extra bucks for the perceived woodoo.
With my 40 years of engineering experience, I do not believe filter cap brands add much to the sound, except for being slightly faulty and thus playing false notes..... :wink:
Component quality and proper parameters do matter, also in terms of reliabilty. Modern quality components are ein general better than the old ones were, - but at a price.......
