I just wanted to share with you a quick tip. I was able to get rid of wrinkle on the grill of my speaker cabinet. I used my heat gun on the low setting. I used circular motion and pointed at 45 deg angle about 5-6" away. The plastic shrinks very fast - be careful! My grill is wrinkle free now.

Nice tip bro! I do the same thing with the window in my convertible top. It gets a crease if I keep it stowed for too many days.chikov wrote:I just wanted to share with you a quick tip. If you get time post another pic of her, I'd like to see.
BTW nice video, I like the beginning treatment. Looks like a pro fade in.
Looks like you have a nice arsenal of guitars too,

If you wipe the grille cloth with a damp cloth to get the grille thoroughly damp but not running wet obviously, then dry it with a hot air gun it will tighten up a lot. Much eaier to do without a speaker installed.
I had a problem last week, installing Mitchel Donuts I placed the foam before the contact adhesive had dried sufficiently and the glue migrated through the grille cloth. Grr. I then had to clean it all off with white spirit then remove that with washing up liquid and hose it down. When dry the whole thing was a lot more taught.

I had that.... you will notice. It did scare the hell out of me.mhartman wrote:You will know. It will squeal loudly if it is out-of-phase. I have an update. One thing I was not completely happy about was the overdrive. If I wanted to get a decent OD out of it I had to crank my amp pretty loud. So, Structo (bless his hart) gave me a great idea - to build a Dumbelator or C-lator . I followed his advice ( always a good idea) and got Nik to send me a kit. Well, tonight I finally finished putting it together.
Oh my! This was exactly what I needed. It, in a sense, harnessed the amp. I could crank the volume on the amp way up, plus overdrive, but with Clator's controls, I could lower over all volume, but preserve the OD. Nice. I love the drive knob. You can gradually dial in a nice growl, that sound very organic. Love it. I will play with it more tomorrow, but tonight I have only one question. My stand by switch does not do anything - no difference weather it up or down. I tested the continuity and the switch seems to be ok. I even checked the voltage and when it's on I reed 135v on its output, and when it's off - it's about 28volts ac. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem? Still the switch?

I built the same kit as you and mine is the same way bro. I don't use either standby or on switch, I use a furman conditioner and when it is on everything is on. My Clator stays on always, just the furman either gives it juice or not.chikov wrote:I have an update. One thing I was not completely happy about was the overdrive. I'm glad to hear your Clator experience is going so well, mine was similar.

One more question. I noticed that my speaker would rattle a little on some notes on my low E string. It got me thinking, the speaker I have is a Jensen 70watt, 8oHms one and would it be a little weak for 100watt Ceriatone ODS?
If it is so what speaker would be a good replacement - preferably under $200.00?

Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Someone PMed me the answer to my previous question ( thanks Tom). However, when i play through my C - lator, with.the drive knob anywhere over 11 or 12, I hear very noticeable attack thumping sound, each note I play. Is it a part of the compression effect that c-lator creates? What is a good way to minimize it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I cant believe you havent burnt that speaker yet. Try an EVM12L. Safe AND legal...chikov wrote:One more question. I noticed that my speaker would rattle a little on some notes on my low E string. Definitely, I will be replacing my speaker soon. I was following someone's advice and using 4 oHms setting on OT for my 8oHms speaker - as it turned out, when I switched back to 8 oHms - most of the rattling stopped. I guess there is a reason why they made 3 different impedanses

I have one more question. Based on the info below, how would you wire the on/off switch for 25k linear pot
Quote:
"If you cant stand the idea of the pot being in the loop, you can simply add a switch to take it out of the circuit."

I sort of like it, but will want to take it out at times based on the tone I am hearing at the moment...
Thanks.

Wire the switch to open the connection from the send to the top of the pot, and at the same time short the bottom of the pot to its wiper.

Wow, this solution is much easier. Here is what I devised:

Re: New Ceriatone Overtone build with a few q. Completed!
Thank you, Martin, for your easy solution. I just finished wiring it and it works great! I was not sure if 25K pot was adding any distortion or not - not I can compare with it in and out and it helps. BTW, no, it does not add any distortion, but when you adjust this pot, somewhere in the middle, the sound gets really quiet... I wonder why...
