That's some good fun. Thanks for sharing!
I thought it was interesting that the volume in the room is sufficiently low (on the Flying V recording) that I could hear the pick on the strings. The amp (and YOU) sound great.

This is me playing a cover of Bonamassa with my band in a small bar/restaurant with a Tweed Harvard replica:

Hi.
I rehearsed with the Trainwreck for the first time yesterday evening. I'm still floored. I didn't use any pedal at all and had a consistent, powerful and just plain gorgeous tone from the first minute to the end of the third hour. It's the first time I'll gig with an amp without any pedal. I'll just take my tuner and my wah and that's it. I use the wah for two songs out of thirty only... Right now after those three first hours of live playing with the band I feel it's a little tough to get consistent clean tones, the crunch comes pretty quickly, but it's a matter of time before I can handle that well enough. I might have to get rid of tunes like Thrill is Gone or Old Love in the setlist though... But hell, for Bonamassa, Gov'T Mule, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy tones, it's all there without a single pedal! This things sustains for days. I used it on 6, then 8 then 10 and attenuated it at -15dB at the beginning of the rehearsal and -7dB at the end. I enjoyed the tone with the amp on 8 the most. Great sound. I just had some fun and clicked the attenuator OFF for one minute and that was HELL loud, just like a plexi 100w... Damn... 33 watts??? REALLY???
My friends in the band said that my tone was awesome as well. The singer said " it has the Marshall growl, the Fenders shime and it never is aggressive even though it's real loud". I'm glad that it's not just a guitarist thing and that unaware ears find the sound to be impressive, and trust me, that Express had a tough job to do to beat the 1987 replica I did two years ago. Here's a picture of that babe as well:

She beat it! I might try my Clinch Fx EP+ through it next time though... You just can't cure a fifteen-year-long pedal addiction in one day...
Cheers guys!

Great sounding clips! I especially dig the first one with your R0.
Re: Express finished. New videos on page 2...
Excellent. How did you get such a good sound on a youtube clip?
The tele clip is may fav.
I'm afraid the Motorhead one will make me quite insane in the brain if I listen again.

I like the clean tone best from the Tele and then the crunch from the Les Paul... thanks for posting these up!

Oh the cab was miced with two microphones and into a computer with just an added slight touch of reverb, a pretty well-thought and serious amateurial recording. It's not the camera built-in mic you're hearing. The camera was just used for the film, the sound is an altogether more serious business...overtone wrote:Excellent. Great bunch of guys here and I am pleased to be able to hang out with them. I think it is really great that you have added support to the previously established fact that the can cap makes a great Wreck build. I don't know what Pacific is going to do as far as transformer layout wiring options but the Heyboers I have left in stock here feed wires out of both end bells in the Euro versions. I am currently having Mercury Magnetics recreate versions of the original Stancor transformers that were used in all the Wrecks before they went to Pacific transformers. These also have wires feeding out of both end bells.Trainlover wrote:Thanks guys and thanks RJ, I may be back to you soon for one more build!
This means that there is a set of wires coming through the chassis right into the "stack o caps". The JJ can caps end the turf conflict there, clean up the look of things, and apparently sound great.
Thanks for sharing the good work!

No, it's actually an old 4X12. We didn't use it for recording as one of the 4 12" was bad and we didn't want to ruin the sound.ER wrote:Motorhead, nice! Is that a 8x10 cab? I wanna hear the express through THAT.
