Question about HRM tone stack Bass pot value

Post by Colossal »

I am building a D-style amp with front panel mounted HRM TMB pots instead of the trimmer board. So the player will be able to externally adjust the tone controls and switch the stack in and out, as desired. My question is regarding the Bass pot value. Typical Marshall bass pot is 1M-A but I'm pretty sure there's been some discussion in the past about reducing the HRM bass trimmer to 500kA or 250kA for better control/more useable range. I thought I had this in my notes, but just can't find it if I did.

Any comments/experience would be most welcome.

Thanks.
