I have to put a rectifier tube into an AC-30 and I'm curious as to which brand of 5AR4 or gz-34 have you guys found to be robust enough to handle the AC-30?
I would like to stipulate only new production valves, the NOS option is too expense to consider.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Suitable 5AR4 for Vox AC-30?
Well, I've had both JJ and Sovtek go south on me (in a Deluxe Reverb), so I think it's a crap shoot with current production tubes. That said, if size is an issue, the Sovtek is smaller. Otherwise, I believe the JJ follows the original performance curves a little better. Don't know anything about the Chinese versions.

I have had luck with a chinese GZ34 in my superreverb. Great sounding....I tested several batches sovtek's ( I did not like these at all) and this chinese tube held up tonewise against a NOS Philips Miniwatt GZ34.
I assume it is a Sino but I'm not sure.
