John Mayer Signature Build

Post by stephenl »

It looks like maybe a couple of people here have built these.

If so, opinions...did you love it?

I think this is the most recent schemo I could find under the Dumble Files...

If you don't mind sharing, is this what you built?

I'm still enjoying mine. It is a somewhat dark amp (I thought the same about the original), but it makes you want to keep playing.

Mhartman you build a great looking amp, yours and Taylor's (Amplified Nation) were the reason I built mine. :)

Thanks Mark. I appreciate that. That JM was my first custom build -- it took me forever to do, but I learned a ton in the process. Your amps look pretty awesome to me. Its too bad that we don't all live down the street from each other, it would be a blast to play each other's amps and really learn from one another.

I wish we could all get together what a trip that would be, nonstop bull shit fest with music, love the thought.

Judging from the clips out there, that is one fine sounding amp!

Amplified Nation's clip with and OD pedal up front sounded killer.

Are there any voltage reading charts out there? Alternatively, any specifications on the PTs and OTs that folks used in their builds?

Likewise on the reverb tranny and pan that worked well in this plan.

Mine is 100w so I used the Magnetic Components Twin Reverb set (PT, OT, choke, & rev driver).

I tried a 17" long Twin Reverb pan and currently using the short pan Mesa Boogie type R8AB2A1B short tank, medium delay. This fits in my small and shorter Dumble cabinet without injecting any hum due to transformers.

You can use the Hammond 1750A reverb tranny if you already have a PT, OT, and choke.

Mark,

Did you find that you prefer one pan over the other?

Thanks.
