My first thought was "I give in"
Then I attacked this chassis like a honey badger :twisted
#39 (sorta) front end.
4 x 6V6 output.
MM Orange 50 transformers.
Effects loop & hopefully footswitch voicing - if I can shoe horn it in.

This amp was 75% built a completely different design.
I wussed out of that & went for something I have a little more experience with
Lots of horror stories about the noise floor on #39.
Hence V1 right next to the input.
The PS resistors are 3w - just something I had on hand - not sure who made them. We'll see if they pass muster.
Those are STK caps - I've used em b4. They look badass & work good.
I'm open to suggestions for the extra 3 triodes.
Maybe verb & make the loop simple series.
Hmmm.
Started a 100w Plexi while I make my mind up.

Tim Caswell modified some of Studio Instrument Rentals' amps. #39 is the Dokken Under Lock and Key amp. (Except for the parts recorded on a nearly identical sounding Randall RG without tubes) hah

Looks great Bob! Uhh.. Ok. 1. 2. 3. 4. Oh shit. You have enough tubes for 2 discrete channels, clean with a one knob tone, both share the first stage... a loop return and unused triodes on two tubes.

I have been trying to spend all those triodes over a pound of coffee. Wow.

With some creative switching there isn't anything that can't be done in this beasty. I see where the inspiration crossed up for sure. I say continue with the original idea of series options but with the Marshall values. Damn you got it this close. You already wired it up for lots of remote switching... so..

If both basic channels had plate drive TS and there was a treble bleed control at the junction of the stages that fed the last couple stages to that normal Marshall thing omg you have too many ways to go it needs a couple more holes haha

Thanks guys now I know what #39 is. Just sold a stock Marshall just like it to a friend in Chicago yesterday. Had I read this post I may have changed my mind. More amp than I need though. My 50 watt Marshall is enough for me.

Hi Bob,

Your work is looking good!

I once built the #39 preamp in my SLP RI (now it's changed to Avenger spec) and did not find the noise floor to be any worse than other high gain preamps. The #39 circuit is not that high gain anyway - at least compared to SLO/Avenger.
