last night i finished my komet 19 like build. The Amp is something like a Marshall 20W with cascaded preamp. Damn is this amp loud. Too loud. It has to much distortion. Can anybody help to tweak the amp a little bit so that it has more clean headroom?
Thx Mike

Have you confirmed that the info you obtained about this being the Komet circuit is accurate?
I am not familiar with that Phase Inverter circuit but it looks like it could add a lot of dirt.
The first thing I would try is lowering the 470k grid resistors on the EL84s. Tack a 470k parallel with each existing 470k and see what it sounds like.
If it's still over the top tack in 220ks in place of the tacked in 470ks. If one of those combos work replace with equivalent value single resistor.
Oh sorry guys. I did not think you are waiting on me. I had not much time on building my Amp last week. But i tweaked it a little bit and now i think its ready to play. What i did is changing R6 to 220k, R7 to 100R and R14,R15 to 220K. Does somebody know any original Value of parts of this little monster? You sure want to know which tranny i use. PT is a Hammond 370DX and OT is a Marshall 18W from Tubetown.de. Headshell is in process. May be i finish the Amp in the next 2 weeks.
