Hot Rod Deville

Post by Bluesmachine »

Hello All !!

Can anyone educate me on an issue I am having with my HR Deville by chance ??

New tubes were installed recently to hopefully elmininate a problem of the amp making a sound which could be best described as a Fuzz Face with a low battery. It's pretty much a distorted farty sound more prevalent in the low frequencies on the clean channel.

Thanks Much !

I'd check R78 and R79 330 ohm 5 watt resistors in the +/- 16V supply ... the resistors fail, come unsoldered or the pcb often gets damaged under them ...

Check the plate load resistors to the phase invertor. Frequently one fails and causes exactly what you described.
