6k5 / 5k2 switch, is that doable?
I was wondering if I could use a simple 6A switch go go back and forth on the OT primaries. Is there something wrong/bad about it?
thanks

I was wondering the exact same thing. I ordered the OT for my Komet with both 5.8K (Komet 60) and 4.8K (Concorde) taps.
It would be interesting to switch bewteen them .. especially since the Komet 60 can handle so many different types of output tubes.

I believe Nik's offering this as an option on the Ceriatones now, after there was some debate about which primary had been used in that TGP shootout between the Ceriatone and Glen's original Express.Thiago.zanato wrote:I was wondering if I could use a simple 6A switch go go back and forth on the OT primaries. At 35W into a 4ohm load you're looking at 3A, so a 6A switch will be fine.

Hi!
I have a pentode/ul switch on my 18watter working under 300/320 volts but its a good quality switch(15A250V) and there is a fuse along the ht line.
in your case (switching the load on your plates), i will put the amp on stanby first to avoid pops (and may be tube/OT issues?).
in this case i think a good switch will do the job. With an appropriate FUSE along the HT line.
Switch carefully! you have big caps on these amps
EDIT: some 6A/125VAC are rated 7A......30VDC (resistive load)

I'm having a switch installed on my Ceriatone Liverpull for this. Nik is charging $10 for the OT-impedance selector switch. Of course, I'm supplying the Heyboer tranny set.
Good Luck,

I did it too. Used a 10A DPDT toggle. Just switch when on standby (or off, of course) and no worries.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

That's where I got the idea!

Yes, I did this as well on my new D'Lite 44.
It has an OT with 4.4k and 8k primaries.
I put a DPDT toggle switch so I can run either the 6V6 or 6L6 type tubes, after biasing of course.

Ha! I laugh at all those chumps without an output impedance selector switch! Clearly, all the true aficionados have multiple taps with the requisite backup!
