reverb tank orientation

Post by badzuri »

Does the reverb tank have rca jacks facing the speaker or the back of the amp?

The important thing is to have the input of the tank toward the preamp side of the chassis and away fom the power amp side where it will pickup noise.

So whatever position will accomplish that is the correct one...

Actually, it is most common to have the output side toward the preamps; the output coil is directly connected to the reverb recovery stage, so hum there goes straight to the grid of the tube. This usually means the jacks face the speaker when the tank is mounted open side down. Even more important is to have a good shield on the reverb output cable.
