I guess I should mention that I got my Liverpool sounding better by rolling through some tubes. Ended up bumping out the 5751 from V1 with a TAD 12ax7 that was in the PI. Dropped a random Chinese 12ax7 in the PI from I don't remember where (I think it came in another second hand amp I had). Anyways, I quite like the improvement despite being so into the 5751 for the last couple years. So, I don't know where the hash was really coming from (V1 or PI), but some moving around seemed to quite eliminate it... and I haven't even used it yet with the right speaker that I find also helps in that department because it is not with me out here in the mountains right now.

Anyways, sorry it's a bit off topic from the 6PS caps, but I figured I should report back.

I do plan to go to 6PSs in future builds if I can find them, but I think I will leave 716s in my Liverpoool.

Using 6PS caps.

Post by utervo »

Just received my 6PS caps in the mail.

If you are making board from scratch do you rather put the solder points (turrets or eyelets) with correct spacing or strect the leads to fit places where axial caps normally are?

For my blackface board I have been thinking of installing extra turrets so I don't have to stretch the leads too much to get across the board.

Hi,

you should put this cap in. Try 47p, 100p, 150p .. up to 360p. More .. I dont know, thats a matter of tase. I f the amp needs such high pF (like between 250p -500p), there is something else to do.
