I must be alien, or completely native...or...
I'm not allergic to anything that I know of.
Strawberries gave me hives when I was little, but no issues.
So whatever it is I don't know I'm allergic to, it will get me quick and deadly (hopefully).

Re: Made it a whole week!
Years ago I worked with a guy who went through the entire battery of tests to determine what he was allergic to. I was thinking about doing it and he suggested, "Don't even bother with the formaldehyde test, it will just burn a big hole in your arm, and chances are you are allergic to it."
I was like "What in the hell has formaldehyde in it."
"Pretty much everything."
Years later I was washing three dogs using cheap shampoo, and I swear that bathroom smelled like a chemistry lab, or like the old hearse I used to own.

Re: Made it a whole week!
People make formaldehyde as a byproduct of just being too.
I need a plastic bubble.
Doctor told me I am not going to feel very well until this ear clears then he told me not to touch it or try to clear it on purpose.. any more.. than I already have.. and I just hate instruction. I still have hydrogen peroxide and at least 400 q-tips left.
Bastard put something like brylcream in my head. The inside of my left ear has a rockabilly band now. Greasy stuff drains when it gets warm. My eyes are watering. Hey cat. Go cat, go. Meow.
Where are those chopsticks? I need an implement.

Messed up ears suck.
I have a constant ringing (tinnitus) that I think is around 15KHz.
Always there, most of the time I can ignore it but last week when I was
sick it was prominent.
I had a friend that had bad tinnitus and his sounded like the roar of the ocean.
It was really driving him mad.
Finally he went to a specialist and had these noise cancelling hearing aids made.
They emit an out of phase noise which cancels out most of the roar.
He told me they cancel out about 80% of it.

I have had tinnitus for about 30 years now. Big bummer, but it's tolerable for me. Mine gets worse when I'm sick or stressed.I have a constant ringing (tinnitus) that I think is around 15KHz.

There are a lot of causes. I've found that just knowing about the causes and understanding is very helpful. I learned ALOT from this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Tinnitus-Retraini ... s=tinnitus
FYI, there are cases where the tinnitus is so loud it can drive the person literally insane. In at least one case, they cut the auditory nerve and the ringing got WORSE! All the causes are not well understood.

Re: Made it a whole week!
I have had it a couple times from external things like playing music (heh) or once when I shot a rifle in a very small space.. yeeks, but lucky me has no hiss or ring to speak of. I get a little hiss at certain times of the year to accompany allergic explosions.. especially oak pollen. The grey stuff is the worst.
Today is a banner day. I hadn't realized how depressed I had become as a sloth since this vertigo took over my life. Days and nights were a mess and it seems like the last couple weeks were some kind of punishment. Best day in a couple weeks, absolutely.

There was a lady at my church a few years back that had vertigo so bad she couldn't walk.
Nausea too.
Not sure if she ever recovered from it but I recall seeing her come to church in a wheelchair several times.
The only time you realize that doctors don't know everything is when you come down with one of these disorders or diseases.
Then they kind of shrug their shoulders and smile....

They're smiling because they're thinking of how much stuff they can buy with the profits from all the tests they can run for not knowing.Structo wrote:Then they kind of shrug their shoulders and smile....

First, Mark - You had a hearse? Whoa, how cool is that! I always thought it would be a good vehicle to carry equipment to gigs.
When I was a kid down on the Texas coast, every summer day I'd be awakened by being completely plugged and beginning to swell. The only thing to do was throw a box of Kleenex in the basket of my bike and ride it as fast as I could down the the shore and watch the sunrise. That was the only thing, that physical exertion, that would open it and allow it all to come out. Then I could go home and be miserable for the rest of the day but not quite as bad.
When I was 24 my wife was a nurse and got me a free blood test for allergens. Then I got shots for a year. Since then I get an occasional stuffy nose but nothing to speak of. I take a Sudafed maybe 2 or 3 times a year and life is good. However, for the first 25 years I paid my dues.
I feel for you guys suffering. Some doctors can fix you up. Others, not so much.

Don't know about Mark. I had one. Sorry for the crappy picture. It was great for hauling equipment. The floor in the back had built-in rollers.sepulchre wrote:First, Mark - You had a hearse? Whoa, how cool is that! I always thought it would be a good vehicle to carry equipment to gigs.

Yeah when I was a teenager I thought owning a hearse would be cool.
Now I think it would be creepy!
@ tsutt,
Does tea tree oil help tinnitus?
By nutty pot do you mean neti pot?

It was fun. It did seem to piss off a lot of people. Especially when you rolled down the window and yelled "We'll be back to pick you up later!"Structo wrote:Yeah when I was a teenager I thought owning a hearse would be cool.
The only problem was it had a tiny gas tank, and a huge V8. Not exactly good for road trips, unless your taking a tour of all the exits.

Sorry, Lefty. Don't know what came over me... Confusion. Probably from excitement - just ordered a new axe!LeftyStrat wrote: Don't know about Mark.
(American Deluxe Strat . . . Yeah, yeah, I'm a Strat guy)
The hearse is way cool. I just knew it would be a good gig vehicle.

Hey Tom, (think I got the name right, this time) didn't Sherlock Holes smoke one of those?
