static in my liverpool with single coil pups
I have a Eric Johnson strat when played through my liverpool clone I get get the most annoying static poops.

This sounds like it could be a common problem which is normally due to static electricity building on the pickguard. You can try rubbing a dryer sheet on the pickguard to see if it helps. It usually does for a short period of time, but it tends to return pretty quickly.

EJ Strat into Liverpool is my main rig too.
That static is generally worse in the winter, but I got rid of it by just shielding my strat. Your pickguard is quite prone to it.
Dryer sheets help for short periods of time, but shielding is easy and cheap too. There is a site with instructions. It's called "guitar nuts" or something. Sorry, I'm on my phone....

Try some masking tape over the pickguard right near where you may be dragging your fingers, perhaps in the area right below the high E string. That has worked for me in the past (during the dry winter months full of static electricity) on my Tele! Keep in mind it's not really the Liverpool, you would probably have this issue with any high gain amp or amp/pedal combo, when the gain is kicked on that is.
