Finished my Ceriatone Express

Post by pdrie »

Afeter some hum issues and reversed output transformer leads, I finally finished my Express. I can't say enough good things about Nik's willingness to answer quations, as well as members of this forum who were willing and able to help with troubleshooting. The amp is everything that I was expecting: Agressive gain and harmonics to die for. Attached is a picture of the head and matching speaker cabinet. The cabinets are from Reason Amps. I have the 2-12 loaded with a Vintage 30 and a Hellatone 30. I am using a NOS Westinghouse 12AT7 for V1, and EHs for V2 and V3. The EL34s are Winged Cs. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better first amp.

Of course, now I am addicted in a big way. I am working on a Ceriatone DC30 and a D'Lite, and I ahve all of the parts for an ODS clone. Looks like the wife and kids will be seeing a lot less of me for a while!

Thanks again for all of the help.

Paul

Looks good, how about a gut shot???
Anyway, I have also made the dc30 kit from Nik, and I really like that amp. Took a while to get the hum down on it-lots of wire rerouting!!! Turns out really nice. I bought the t-formers from a local company-forgot, not westlabs. Turned out to be a lot of bang for the buck!! Still not sure about out of phase speaker wiring on his lay-out. NOS premp tubes are a must to take the edge off. Took a long time to burn-in, like most amps, but worth getting there. The master really eats up some of the life out of the amp-compared to a real dc30.

Cool deal! I like the look of your cab, very '70s chic!
