Hi every one !
In the Trainwreck express, ther's 3 diode ( 1N4007 or UF4007)
from pin 3 to ground.
I'M not sure what is that use for.
And what is the different Wattage between 6V6 and EL34 ?
Noob Question !
Thanks

Re: Express triple diode on pin 3 output tube
Hi Dave,
The diodes are for protection against spikes & such.
Protecting those valuable NOS EL34s.
Some of us don't use them.
There was a thread about some hash sounds caused by them.
6V6s or EL34's - volume wise there is a small difference.
22w against 35w.
EL34s give more punch, for me anyway.

Thanks Bob !
I plant to built one some day...
I'm looking for transfo spec, whant to use Mercury Magnetic.
Eanyone try a Tube rectifier instead on diode ?

Re: Express triple diode on pin 3 output tube
The diodes do the job quite well.. I won't go for the tube. The sag or squash will be too much.. the express allready has that sagging dynamic with high gain.DaveWell wrote:Thanks Bob !
