Re: New Joy Zee MP3's
Thanks! I'm not one to start a flame war, I'd rather folks just try ideas on like they would a hat, if it doesn't fit don't wear it, but making someoone else wrong because they don't share your taste in hats doesn't benefit anyone or further the action, there is certainly room even for those who scrutinize how round knobs vs chickenheads will affect their tone, although they may wind up as a dog who chases his tail does-worn out and right back where he started.

I think a good way to embrace the Trainwreck philosophy is to learn your craft and have good players come in and try your stuff.
Listen to what they have to say and apply it to your bench amp.
The more "feedback" from other ears will help you tune your ears as well.
To sit and tweak a amp just on what you hear or "think" you may hear is ok but limiting.
There will be more greats like KF in the future
Its evolution
Get reaction on your builds from the local steady players.

Re: New Joy Zee MP3's
first....Who cares how it sounds if you can die from plugging into it!,
How about a full retraction and we'll call it a day.second....Could you really die? well probably not
What a load of rubbish. Does this mean the mains wires are reading 110v ac on the outside of the insulation? Who needs power stations when we can get static electricity to do all the work for us.whatever AC voltage you put into them you'd get that same voltage on the outside of them.
Wholeheartedly agreed.I will say that I see alot of foolishness posted on amp forums
Seriously, you went and slagged someones elses work to the point of saying they are dangerous. "The paragraph here was deleted in case women, children or the feint at heart access these areas."Thanks! I'm not one to start a flame war,
I had a lot of questions regarding why this Ken Fisher design doesnt appear to work for the majority (or is it just the vocal minority) but this one has gotten so far off topic that it would take more work than it is worth to bring it back on track. I should have known better than to mention a Gerald Weber product here. Brings out the worst in people....and in this case me as well!!!
I will never mention Gerald weber again. i will never mention Gerald weber again.i will never mention Gerald weber again. i will never mention Gerald weber again. i will never mention Gerald weber again.
Let's go listen to those Geetarpicker clips some more, do some more tweakin' and forget about this thread.

Wow Pete, sorry I pissed you off!!
So, this amp never got an approval from Ken Fischer because it sounds terrible, it was never licensed by Trainwreck Circuts, and seems to have major issues with the choice of components.

No, the 110V AC MAins are plain old PVC without cloth cover, so no they don't have static electricity on them. What a load of rubbish. As far as a full retraction goes the only statement I made that had any fallacy to it was the statement about dying, which I did retract, but I meant it as a smart ass comment not gospel. How about a full retraction and we'll call it a day.
"This amp is not a Trainwreck!!" Ken agreed to design an amp for Gerald, while Ken was working on the circut Gerald started Advertising an amp that had "Switchable EL34 and 6V6 Tubes" "Reverb" and is a "Combo". The amp that Ken was working on for this project was NONE of these things, but being the nice guy he is, Ken tried to accomodate all of GW's new stipulations, and tweaked out a Deluxe Reverb circut and sent it to GW. GW sent KF the prototype and Ken said it was just AWFUL, he called GW and said that this amp needs time and tweaks, but GW stated that he was already Shipping these amps to customers, Ken and GW got into it, Ken pulled out of the project and told Gerald that he was not authorized to use the Trainwreck trademark, they got their Lawyers involved and the whole thing got ugly. Through all of the legal battle Ken never got an amp or a cent, so after much complaint from Ken, Gerald sent Ken a chassis-Only amp, Ken plugged it in and said it sounded like crap, so he dug in to investigate and found the Cloth/PVC-covered wire had a voltage on the outside of it, so he clipped a piece of it out and sent it to a friend in the Engineering department at Princeton who found that the wire was actually an almost perfect capacitor, and was "So Many(Direct quote from KF) Picofarads per inch". Ken also said that all the tube sockets in this particular example were "Pulls"(Used parts) FWIW.I had a lot of questions regarding why this Ken Fisher design doesnt appear to work for the majority (or is it just the vocal minority) but this one has gotten so far off topic that it would take more work than it is worth to bring it back on track.
