Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Anybody else picked up Neil's new (sort of) album?
Psychedelic Pill
Classic Crazy Horse vibes.
I downloaded it from Amazon and it came with a video for each song although I haven't downloaded the videos yet.
Here is the first cut.

I love Neil. Not sure why except it always sounds like he's having as much trouble with his guitar as I do.

Saw him last Monday. Great show, most of it were the 20min extended jam tracks from Psychedelic Pill.
Had the big Fender amps, over sized mic, mad scientist roadies just like Rust Never Sleeps tour.

Yep had it.
He had his Tweed Deluxe(s) and what look to be an old Silvertone (probably actually his Magnatone) behind the grill cloth of the giant Fender amps.
Old Black was played 90% of the show except for two songs where his old acoustic "Hank" (D-18) was played.

It's not like he's ever in tune.

Yeah, that slightly out of tune thing at first bothered me but then I discovered it was part of his sound.
Kind of a primitive jungle call if you will.
The man is a genius, he just prefers to be a bit on the crude side.
I saw that Magnatone in another photo, that thing is huge!

Re: Neil Young & Crazy Horse
to me, Neil and Daniel Lanois are atmosphere/landscape players...love them both...I don't expect acrobatic noodling from them....I love what they do.
Could give a rat's ass about their gear...

In a book I read awhile ago, Hotel California I think, the author talked about the guys in crazy horse actually looking for places to hide from the awful noises Neil made with his guitar.

Neil has a book that he wrote (not a ghost writer) just out. Saw him on The Daily Show yesterday.

If your a NY fan you'll probably enjoy it othersiwe...not so much. It gives a good look into the mind of a guy who isn't very candid and open to the public.
