Re: Built a Dumblelator
...adding some missing background, my knob setting thang, the settings are when no fx in loop, and pretty much the same when using my TC Electronic Nova multi fx in the loop as well. There might be a slight adjustment in the out knob, but that's about it.
I'm positive that my posted settings are invalid for use with fx equipment throwing out hotter signal.
Choke filtering in mine? I seem to remember a Nik-ly looking power supply filtering board with enough microfarads populated to keep passing signal while I keep picking for a good couple minutes after the 'lator standby switch is turned to SB...not sure a choke filtered PS would behave like that, would it?

Re: Built a Dumblelator
I ended up rehousing my D'lator too Mark.
So my layout ended up sort of like yours with the cover on the bottom.
I just let the cover plate bulge a little bit over the transformer since it wasn't sticking out too far.
But that is a good idea with the cork.
I used a choke in mine as well and when I put the D'lator in a new chassis, I omitted the standby switch.
Yes, mine will play for a long time before the caps run out of juice.
The choke just provides better regulation in the PS.
I'm thinking about adding a bypass switch on the loop.
I had one in the other one and I liked it to compare the signals and for troubleshooting if something is wrong.

Don't let that smoke out!

Re: Built a Dumblelator
I debated the need for a standby switch and ended up going without.
I like the choke idea and that surely was a cheap and easy addition.

Re: Built a Dumblelator
OK, where did the hip blue boards come from !!
Thanks for the kind words IC-racer. The Verbrator (intentionally) is not a Dumbleator, and does not have any frequency contouring or EQ in it. It does affect the sound in it's own way (any device will), but as you found you can adjust the amp accordingly to get things sounding the way you like !

Re: Built a Dumblelator
Beta testers are usually local players (I'm fortunate to have some excellent jazz players nearby, as well as access to some good NYC fusion and rock players). We also use some of our regular endorsers to whom we send samples during development, so we can get feedback and refine products.
Still wanna know where to get that cool blue perf....
