Old Test Equipment at State Surplus

Post by Cygnus X1 »

I guess I did OK.

Eico Capacitor substitution box, Heathkit decade box ( six knobs), and and RCA dual regulated DC 0 to 20V power supply.

All for 30 dollars plus tax.

I was thinking the regulated DC supply would be great for pedals.

The others rang my bell from "Tone Lizard" recommendations.

So, I have a VTVM, a Tek oscilloscope, the stuff I got today, and just need a signal generator.
Along with all the other crap I already use regularly such as the light bulb limiter, transformer testing rig, and a variac.

It's just a giant warehouse full of stuff from mostly educational institutions.
Baziilions of PC's office furniture, some scary looking items from some hospital (mental?), and whatnot.

I believe so.

Adjacent to Airport High school, and some kind of rehab complex.

Again, I have gone in there and seen nothing worth picking up.
Someone must have cleaned out the back room closet behind the other back room everyone forgot about...in that other closet.
Most of what I picked up was labeled Clemson EE lab.

Where was this at? Sounds like it is near where I grew up.

Sorry, slightly off-topic ...... but .....

I attended the wildest Halloween party ever ...... thrown by some USC students in Columbia, SC back around 1979-80.

One of the "costumes" was a Human Torch. Guy had an aluminum backpack frame with gas canisters affixed to it. He ignited it inside the house, ran from a back-room into the living room (furniture pushed against walls to clear the center of the room .... folks told in advance to step back and leave the center of the room clear) ...... ran around in circles ...... and apparently miscalculated the burn-time (which obviously went longer than the wanted, as it was burning his back). He had to fling it off his back .... onto the lovely hardwood floors where it had to be extinguished with beers. Wild!

That's hilarious, Halloween was always pretty fun in Columbia.

Funny enough, I was there from 77-81, hate I missed that party.

It's entirely possible you didn't miss that party. I think a LOT of people were there, but probably can't remember it. Yeah, it was wild!
