was drilling out a hole with the step bit and it stopped. drill spun around and hit the PT. is this going to cause an issue? it's partially installed so there is a lot to do to disconnect it to test. not quite sure what i'd test for either.

Probably not. How much of the entire magnetized area is that little dong - 0,01%? Don't sweat it, buddy!

i figured most of the "issues" area would be covered by the end bells.

Something that small won't cause any problems. Might make the laminations rust quicker but these are held together by iron oxide, aka rust anyways. Each of the thin laminations must be insulated to prevent eddy current losses and either varnish or (I think more commonly) iron oxide is used. This is also why old rusty transformers will still work fine in many cases. As long as the insulation on the windings is holding up and the laminations aren't shorting together the transformer should work fine.

The comparison would be taking a black sharpie and placing a single 1/2" mark on a whitewall of a tire. ....With the whitewall being on the inside of the tire mounting where only the brake mechanic would see it.

It may bother you that you did this but the amp doesn't care.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

I feel better about dropping a chassis nut into my transformers end cap now........ ( there is a tiny hole that one will slip right into on the bottom ) Anyway, I removed the tranny, removed the caps and got it out of there. Merely a 1 hour setback......
wsaraceni -- I think all that is left is to see what we got as you go forward...that cant be "buffed out' like a car hood..
