As long as the interior dimensions are on spec, the outside doesn't make any difference. Just wall off the interior of a box that fits under your head. Stick cables and other stage junk in the partition. sh
So what you're saying is to keep the interior box dimensions and build the rest according to my needs? Thats a good idea i really need the extra space to put cables and other hardware ahah.
Yes, a number of guys here have been in the same situation. The solution was to extend the overall length of the Thiele cab by adding dead space on one end, but leaving the original internal design and volume the same. The added space could be used as a cubby for speaker cables or other items.

I'm sure you all know this but the 806 can be turned sideways if needed for an amp head to sit on.

I believe that is what Boogie did with their version.

Don't let that smoke out!

Yes, i am aware of that but even sideways my amp head wouldnt fit.

Boogafunk or someone else has one with an internal wall for the correct size cab, and dead space out, for a wider format.

Boogafunk did two TL806 for me that a 100W D-head will fit on and not look silly.

My amp is aprox. (in imperial) 22 inches wide and i was thinking of using the cab horizontally.

What would you guys think it would happen in terms of tone if i increase all the measures proportionally except for the depth of the cabinet?

Unfortunately a V30 is all i can afford...
I'm in the middle of designing my own Thiele cabs. I found some very interesting stuff, hope this helps(note; the resonant freq of the cab should be equal to the res freq of the speaker) :

Thanks for posting these notes! :D

There is something I do not understand.
In the EVM 12L data sheet the fs (free-air resonance frequency) is given with 55 Hz. The "normal" open port tuning of the TL 806 cab is 75 Hz though. Is the resonance frequency of the EVM 12L different from 55 Hz when mounted into a TL 806 cab?

Regards,

Markus

Hi Markus, It is noted in one of the building plans of the TL806 cab that the low register of a guitar is around 80Hz, so they tuned it to 75Hz which will cover the guitar freq.
On the other side: What do they know of Dropped D tuning(73Hz) or open C tunings(65Hz) :D
Anyway it's called "step down "when tuned to 55Hz. But it will sacrifice 2-3dB in the 80-120hZ range.
Edit; attached the EVM12L / TL806 research data.

Interesting thread about this topic:

Will take a while for me to understand everything though....

The problem is that my amp started out as JMP50 clone when i realised i liked the dumble sound better  so i embarked on a mission to convert it to sorta Dumble specs.

My head is a little bit over 22 inch wide. How wide are your cabs?

I was looking at your formulas and where it says "Tunnel Length" is it the length of the port? Or by other words, how deep the vent port is?

Yup, this is one of those times where i can't help to think "i wish i didn't skip math lessons to go play guitar  "
