Tweed bassman rectifier

Im currently using a GZ34/5AR4 rectifier in a 5f6a bassman and looking for a bit more sag, any recommendations for other rectifiers?

5R4, 5V4, or if you have a 3A rating on your 5V winding - a 5U4GB

GE 5R4GA or GYA.
The RCA 5R4GB or GYB will sag slightly less but any 5R4 will sag more than an indirectly heated cathode rectifier.

I'm using two 5R4G in my 5E8A build. RCA JAN 1944. I compared them tonewise with similar vintage 5U4G s and I prefer the 5R4Gs, a bit more compession and really great tone with Tung-Sol 5881s (real ones, not Tung-Solskis).

You will see it said that rectifier tubes affect only the touch sensitivity, if that, of an amplifier. This is simply not true of the 5E8A circuit, there ARE tonal improvements, and I would bet in many other circuits too, including the 5F6A. in the 5F6A it will of course drop all voltages quite a bit, this might limit its value in that circuit. But in any circuit designed for a 5U4G it should show a difference, and likely not a subtle one either.

Audio guys into old style gear know this too.

I picked up some JAN 5R4GAs to try out, also might give a 5U4GB depending on the results. Thanks for the suggestions!
