124/183 power supply

Post by jmrckr »

Hi,

I'm wondering what is the difference between the 183 PS and the 124 PS ? Well, it is evident but I'm wondering if it is possible to build a 124 with the power supply of a 183 ? The voltage dividers look pretty close except for the filter caps and the resistor right after the choke. The PS of the 183 seems "better" to me. It looks more elaborate.

Does anyone tried something like that ? What do you think ?
I have all the boards from agbamplifiers ... that's why I'm asking myself this question.

No problem at all. The later so-called "precision" power supply shown in the 183 is essentially the same, it just has the stacked filters all the way through to keep the caps well below their max voltage ratings, and the ceramic caps across the rectifiers to perhaps increase their longevity. Re the resistor after the choke, you might find yourself adjusting the value of that anyway depending upon the power transformer you select.
