Apparently Levon Helm is in the last stages of his long term fight with throat cancer.

Man thats bad news.If I could chose to sing like anyone on Earth.it would be Levon.

I was supposed to get to see The Band In '94 .Show got canceled at the last second for some reason

I need to watch The Last Waltz again this weekend. I saw it a half a dozen times at the dollar theater when it came out.

Sadly, Levon passed away today at the age of 71.

He was always a class act, a real gentleman, a great musician with heart. He will be missed.

Read his book, "This Wheel's on Fire" some time. Well worth it.

Always loved Helm's singing and The Band. Anybody else seen the Rolling Stone piece? As much as I enjoy The Last Waltz, I can't help but feel differently about it after reading Helm's point of view. His contribution was honest but he really didn't want anything to do with it. I have all the more respect for Helm, though, knowing he went ahead and did it, and gave it everything he could.
