This color wasn't quite what I'd hoped it would be. I actually wanted more color. At a glance in low light, it looks brown. In these pix with bright light only does the Burgundy color come out. I think it would do better with a brighter wood. But whatever, it is what it is.
That Polycrylic clear I used was tricky to deal with. It starts to set within a minute, and would hold your brush strokes if you didn't get it right with a quickness. I think an oil based clear would be more forgiving, because it takes longer to cure. But they also impart an amber color to the finish. No free lunch.
I like the looks of that. It's always so cool when you get down to putting the project in the cabinet... but I learned a long time ago that finishing the cabinet usually means there is a lot of work left. Thanks for giving us a sound clip... clean to mean is such a great attribute of these amps. Nice looking build and I really like the color. rj
