My eyes must have been blurry when I first looked at the pictures, I missed it. Now I see the slots in the 45 degree miter cut clearly. Nice work!

What size biscuits did you use?

They were size 20, not sure what that means though! 1st time I used a biscuit joiner. I think I could have used smaller ones, but those are the ones my buddy had to go with his saw. I think I read that Distortion uses 19 biscuts, I used 12. 2 at each 45 deg corner, 1 at each end of the front plate and 2 on the top of the front plate. This thing feels like a tank now!

1st coat of linseed oil on the faceplate. The tree is a weeping cherry, which I'd never seen before moving to Georgia.

A weeping cherry, never heard of that. I have a weeping maple in my front yard I had never seen that species of tree before I bought the house either.

Mark, Distortion did one of your cabs? His cabs look awesome. Do you know what he means by 'double stain application using alcohol'? I'm not getting quite the 3D grain I was hoping for using boiled linseed oil. Maybe I just need to keep applying and rubbing for a few weeks...

A couple more pics put together - no handle yet; I haven't decided on that one. I think I'll end up doing a mix of BOL, mineral spirits and oil based poly to get a smoother satin finish.

Nice looking amps. If you use a handle be careful not to get a cast one like I did, broke the soon after I put it on. :shock

Great job with the cab. How many layers did you end up with? It gets a little obsessive after a while doesn't it?

Well, I had 5 coats of boiled Linseed Oil on it before I learned about wet sanding.. So I did this:

1. Mix of 1/3 Linseed Oil, 1/3 Mineral Spirits and 1/3 Minwax poly (gloss not satin, gloss is clearer/thinner).

2. Do the wetsand regime; start with 320 grit w/d, then 400 grit w/d then 600 grit w/d 3x.

3. Wax; use 0000 steel wool to apply the wax, let it sit for 10 or so min the had buff. Do this 3x.

4. Wax; jus like step 3 only use cloth instead of steel wool.

Thanks much for sharing your routine. I will be using Tru-Oil but the process should be similar. I did the faceplate already and it took about 12 coats/layers. Can't wait to get the cab done as well.
