Ronnie Montrose dead at 64
Another great guitarist from the 70's passes, Ronnie Montrose dead at the age of 64.
Does anyone know what happened of the lawsuit against Gary Moore (RIP) claiming that Gary owned a Les Paul stolen from Ronnie?
Life is short guys, live it to the fullest.

Yes. If you are going, you better get on your bad motor scooter.
Gary's unburst came from Peter Greene, no? Never heard that about Montrose.
Life is short but only if you really live it. Peace, Ronnie.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

RIP Ronnie! Grew up a bay area kid and my uncle was friends with Denny Carmassi back in the day, he would get Denny's old cymbals-mostly broken or cracked. The first amp I built for myself was a tweed bandmaster so I could sound like Ronnie.

He had two. The one from Peter Green that he sold to Maverick Music and 'Stripe', which is the one in question that Ronnie was apparently suing him over before he died.Reeltarded wrote:Gary's unburst came from Peter Greene, no? Never heard that about Montrose.

Depression is a bitch.
I'm lucky to have seen Ronnie three times. Once with the Edgar Winter Group on the "They Only Come Out at Night" tour, and twice with his own band, after the "Montrose" and "Paper Money" releases.
All three incredible shows. The two shows with his band, he had an Ampeg V4 and three Marshalls for his back line. I always wondered how he got that ripping distortion, I think he may have run the preamp out of the V4 into the front end of the Marshalls.

Wow!
I had no idea his death was ruled a suicide.
I still remember that first Montrose album with Sammy on vocals.
That was a hard rockin' record for sure and we just about wore it out at our parties.
Rock on Ronnie.

And now with the magic of the internet, I find out the first album was either a Bandmaster or Champ, with a big muff.

Here was the guitar he used on Space Station #5. He installed a theremin on a Veleno chrome guitar:
