Thanks, this was great fun putting together this amp. Now what to build next is the question. Maybe a Liverpool? Or something with kt88's as I have a matched set of Winged C's. Or both???? One at a time of course.dorrisant wrote:Absolutely beautiful build...

Happy New Year
Just wanted to say this amp is sounding better all the time.
tried a set of NOS Russian 6P14P output tubes and went through all my NOS 12ax7's and found some great sounding RCA's. I was running new Tung Sol and Mullard and tried some EH and other new Russian tubes, and was amazed at the differences in gain and tone the different tubes have. I like the RCA's, will they work in the V2 position for an extended time? From my reading some tubes do not like the voltages in this CF circuit. Have other brand NOS tubes I have tried and can use, but seem to like the RCA's.

Re: First post New Amp Build
Great looking build. welcome Jeff!
On the handle, i bought a HotRod deluxe 1x12 about a dozen years ago. Was walking down a flight of stairs coming out of a gig one night when the dogbone broke off one side. I had a guitar in the other hand and gigbag over my shoulder.. fortunately the other side held and i was strong enough to not let it slip out my hand, gave me a hell of a fright tho. Fender supplied a new one, but suggested it was not their fault..
Just finishing an express head up. It will be sans handle.
Whats the next build on your list?

I think next will be a Liverpool clone. I like the EL84 amps.azatplayer wrote:Great looking build. welcome Jeff!

Nice job on the amp.
If your goalis to have a grin from ear to ear, the Liverpool will be just the ticket. Way to much fun!!

Re: First post New Amp Build
Added VVR to Rocket/AC30 style amp as a test to see where I could mount it,and if I liked it before I put one on each of two of the three Liverpool's I am building.I set it up to vary all the B voltages in the amp. Seems to work good where it is mounted(I wanted to put it closer to power supply but did not want to redo the front panel). Not sure it would even fit on front of amp. Quiet at low volume, but have not been able to turn it up loud to test yet. Maybe tomorrow? This gives me some idea how the circuit works and how flexible it is for locations.

Nicely done. I just installed a Hall VVR3 in my Rocket Dog #2 on the front panel, so you can compare layout. It wasn't a walk in the park, but it looks quite good (I have another day or two before I complete the build and see if it works!).
