One of my favs. Is it just me or does it seems his solo style changes depending on the guitar? When he's playing the ES-335, it seems very BB King inspired, and when he's on the Les Paul he seems to have more of a Jimmy Page flavor. Maybe it's just the tones of the respective guitars.

Me too!
That has to be the best Les Paul tone I have heard.
Sweet!

Listening to his rig rundown video's the Two Rock Custom Reverb signature is the amp that is delivering that tone combined with the Marshall Jubilee.
I thought maybe it was the Van Weelden Twinkleland ODS.
He also used or uses a Category 5, Marshall Jubilee or Carol Ann JB100.

Love that "info" clip! Love his tone. To my ears, very close to Eric Johnson. For me that would be the "grail" tone.

I guess we as amp builders should be happy with the trend to multiple different amps on stage. The more the merrier.
I thought I was cutting edge back in the late seventies for discovering two different speakers in a combo sounded really great (completely by accident and being cheap).
I'd hate to be a young player today trying to cop one of these guys sound though.
But now that I think about it, a sixties Marshall 100, a blackface Twin Reverb and an Express might just be the ticket for me. But only if I was famous enough for someone else to haul it around.

I am also listening to those clips in another thread on the Ultra Phonix mod dual Showman as well, that would be a killer amp to own and play.

Amp switching
Guy has killer tone for sure, what a player. Is there a good thread or site that details his amp witching methods and gear?

Youtube or premierguitar.com rig rundowns (there are at least three) that Joe shows and talks about his guitars, amps and pedals.

Don't under estimate the power of a Fuzz face with the right transistors.
The sound comes from the drive on your guitar into the unit (FF) and your touch. They work great with a real simple 2 stage amp as well.
Those are some great amps he's using but his touch and note choices are chris crossing between vintage cream clapton and eric Johnson's mastery.
Very nice. I could spend all night listening to that guy. It's great to hear that style of guitar live on.
He's suppose to be in Denver in march or april. Got to go see him.
thanks for the link.

Checked out JB's Website forum. from Vibrotoker
It seems he does not use the Fuzz Face much these days. I do hear it on those older videos on YouTube, but it seems to be more amp and Odrive tone from a Les Paul these days. And cranking a marshall past 6 on the dial really opens up the sound of those amps. I like one post he gives about the shields in front of the speakers to protect people from what he calls the Death Ray. LOL
Just correcting my post. Play on Joe.
