Just a word of caution, moving my amp tonight I picked it up by the handle and the metal mounting bracket snapped. I caught the amp (no small feat) before it hit the floor. Handle from Mojo parts has cast potmetal brackets for mounting, may be ok for light amp but not for heavy amps.
Found an old fender handle in my collection and used the brackets from it.
(good steel parts). Hope not to have that happen again!!!!!!

Hi,
this is my nightmare. Especialy with my Dumble clone. It is a haevy weight class one. I dont trust the handle although its good (and cheap).

Mojo should be embarrassed to sell crap like that. Maybe post a review there as a warning to others.

You can see at the pic that it is a grey cast iron. I never trust such material but thats the price for vintage stile
There should be at least a weight warning, especialy with handl.

I have a large handle from Mojo here, and checking with a magnet the metal attachment fittings are non-ferrous. I guess I won't be using it for anything important.

Nice job! Who did the cabinet??
I would contact Mojo. I use their stuff also (like handles) and being these cabinets are HEAVY and my oversized does not help further...this is an open issue!

Someone looking for a handle and seeing a low resolution picture on a website will think "Yeah, that's the part I need !"
When compared to the original you can tell the difference in manufacturing method.

There's a lot to be said for vintage period correctness, as proven by the variety of handle styles now available.
The problem arises when a piece has the proper appearance, but doesn't function correctly like we see here.

Generally I prefer the Blackface style reinforced strap handle and I got a poorly made copy in an incomplete "kit" from ebay seller phone-kings.
I won't buy from them again because they wouldn't make it right.

If Mojo sells the part other vendors might have the same piece.
I've bought pots from another source that were stamped "Mojo".

I know that Mojo will stand behind their products so I would contact them and explain the situation. They also do not want to sell inferior products.

That design demands a bail fitting that is capable of taking high stress. The low angle at which the handle pulls on the fitting means that the force is somewhere close to the entire weight of the amp on each side- under static conditions. As the amp is lifted that force can be multiplied by two or three times.

Thanks,I did the cabinet myself with plans from this forum but built it one inch shorter. Contacted Mojo about handle, have not heard back yet. It has been my experience that they are very good at customer service and I have no problem with them. I just don't want anyone else to have the same thing happen with worse results. I was lucky and caught the amp.

I have had very good luck with the Fender Dogbone handles. They come with really beefy brackets.

Mojo has contacted me and they seem to think maybe I over tightened the bracket screws and caused a stress crack. I feel it is just poor quality casting work, as I did not tighten the screws past snug because the finish was fresh.
I fixed the problem with steel brackets, and Mojo offered a replacement but I declined. I think for me I will avoid cast parts on any handles from anyone in the future. I don't think my heart can take the stress.

I agree I think it looks like a poor cast part to my eyes and they (mojo) should be a lot more worried about the product.

I have seen casting like that before pot metal/pig metal and easily breaks.

That part should not be made of a casting.
The original part was not, it was either stamped or forged whatever you want to call it, but certainly a casting for that potential stress point is not appropriate.
