Steppin Out with EL34 100w HRM

Post by boldaslove6789 »

Had a Benefit gig today and recorded a few vids with the band I was sitting in with.

It's a high plate 100w EL34 HRM with RCA short grey plates in V1, V2, and a Raytheon long plate in the V3 PI. Skyliner Stack. 2x12 D-style Ported cab with 1 Celestion G1265 and 1 Eminence Texas heat. I have a switch on there to lift the HRm stack so this clip is NON-HRM Overdrive:

Looks good, sounds great! Is it a #183 circuit? Sounds like it.

I'm working on a 183 HRM with a HRM/Non-HRM switch, not to mention a FET/NOR switch. Four Xf4s, and three GE WAs.

Nice! Always enjoy your playing and tone (good taste for a relatively young dude).

My current build-in-progress is 100 watt HRM with JJ 6ca7's. FET, PAB, OD, and HRM defeat all foot-switchable. Classic clean and a hiwatt style HRM instead of the non-cathode follower marshall style and HRM knobs and FET gain on front panel. We'll see how the hiwatt stack goes, if it doesn't sound great will switch to standard HRM or Ripper style.

Peace- ER

Ohh and BTw I'm using a Quinn Dumbleator with Suhr MiniMix & TC M300, regular cable's in the loop( not high pF) , in the Clips above

I like the Red House very much Greg, seems we have similar tone pictures in our heads :D Love the amp/Les Paul combo here.

I really like some of your influences too, although when Gary did his explosive version at the Wembley Strat gig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYjEMTQRm0 , he used a Strat and got a lot of "fight"/feel into the tune.

Keep it up, mate :)

Sounds great Greg!

Outdoor gigs are tough to record well, what did you use?

Is this amp one that you built?

I tried searching for the build thread but couldn't find it.

It was a Ceriatone amp originally. I modded/tweaked it, just about rebuilt it for a friend and now it's for sale on TGP.
