Taming noise in Liverpool build

One thing I am experiencing now is on my LP, if I don't touch the strings, the hissing gets louder. The moment I palm mute or touch a string or the bridge with any part of my hand/arm, hissing reduces about 90% (hiss isn't bad to begin with but nearly silent if I touch the strings).

I checked my ground solder in my guitar, it is still soldered/connected, so I need to look into that. Do you have an issue like that as well?

How is the "hiss" without a cable+guitar plugged into the amp and everything dimed?

What I have done in 2 liverpools and a mini -express is to parallel the first preamp gain stage
That means also half values for rK and rP
Then the second tube's 2 triodes are used for stage 2 and 3 respectively

I believe the parallel first gain stage stabilizes things and reduces noise substantially
I have had great success and very little lead dress sensitivity

I've never seen noise issues such as this with "hiss". Hum and Buzz yes.

Typically if you have buzz that is noticably reduced when you ground your guitar to yourself it's more of an ambient noise pickup from the guitar itself. The extra gain a wreck will make this more of an issue that many amps, but the guitar may be more of the issue. The culprit being many times light dimmers nearby, floursecent lights, or even household wiring if you are in a small room close to the walls. Humbuckers are more resistant to this type of noise but not totally immune. If the guitar has a broken ground connection inside this issue will be much worse.

Now if we are still talking true hiss, white noise type sounds, and these are geting louder when you don't ground yourself to the bridge perhaps you have an oscilation issue that comes and goes. A stong oscilation will totally clip the amp and even the hiss will then be reduced when it happens. Usually though you would be hearing some ultra sonic squeals. I'd take a look at the power tubes when it seems quieter, just to see if there are any signs of high load when you aren't playing.
