STR-387 reading 26mA and 41mA puzzles me? :o
I have 22 each STR-387 made in USA. Using My Hickok 539C tube tester all STR-387 read within 1-3mA
I had a Fender Bantam Bass across my bench last week one octal 34mA the other 24mA
The problem was the output transformer primary windings were way off.
Installed a new output transformer fixed.
May be GT is selling reject stock I don’t know. Did you try a known matched quad of 6l6gc?

I had a quad; 2 tubes are on one half of the OT the other 2 on the other half. If I random swap them, I get the same readings for same tubes.
The fact that Aspen is comfortable with this and confirmes there's no passive measuring done(like with a amplitrex) only dynamic, makes me believe he just sells these as they are.

Picked up the amp yesterday. Only had about 20min to play it at home (kid going to bed w a 100W in the next room is not such a good idea)

Holy smokes! Stayed in the clean channel and it's ohhh so good!! Very even and "natural" sounding. Extremely pleasant sound.
I probably played ALOT louder than I experienced it (go ask my wife).

Used a Dlator (Cougar Catulator) as a Master Volume. Probably too long cables between amp and DLator which tamed the highs a lot because this amp (w DLator) was not bright at all. FAT, THICK, touch sensitive with a bite. I love it.

Used a R8 + a Tube Town 212 w Heritage 65's in 16 ohms

HUGE thanks to Erwin. I could not be more pleased how this turned out.

BTW, been in contact with Aspen and he's matched (current) a new quad of STRs for me. We'll see if I buy the quad or swap them for the ones I have. Could be the amp itself but they sound very good.
