Cap recommendations...

Post by Icetech »

Hi all... was planning on ordering some parts today.. (like the damn 2k presence pot) :)

But i needed to get some caps also... in my build i used 715 drops.. but see people always talking bout PS, so i went to look for ps and didnt find much.. then i find threads saying the PS's arn't like they used to be and don't bother.. then other people talk bout xicon....

What is considered good now? And best place to get them? im sure mouser has what i need.. i am horrible at finding it thoguh:)

Thanks guys..

The 6PS caps are available through Antique/CEDist. www.tubesandmore.com. The Xicon MPPs are less costly and available at mouser. Use their website search on "Xicon MPP".

I've had the best success with type 215 orange drops, they sound almost identical to the old type PS. The new type PS are still better sounding in a guitar amp than 715's. I'd say stay in the Mylar/polyester realm from my experience, that being said, I've never tried the Xicon Mpp's.
