Are there any versions of the Express using cathode bias? Tube rectifier? Just curious.

The Wreck Express-inspired amp (sorry, no clone) I'm currently building will have cathode-biased 6L6 or maybe KT66, haven't decided yet. I'm doing it this way cuz I dig cathode biased amps and the vintage iron I'm using had no bias tap. The Newman the PT and OT came out of ran 6L6s in cathode bias, so I'm sticking with it.

One suggestion I will make to those who chose to go with cathode bias: Big bottles get muy caliente operating like this, so I always build with a fan. I just built an amp for a guy (see pics) and wired the fan independent of the amp power switch so he could cool down the bottles before moving the amp after gigs.

That's one very nice looking amp -- a beauty :D
What kind of covering is that? Where did you find it?
