I changed the wiring in two of my Rocket Reverb amps to shielded wire off the tube to the RCA this took the noise away from both amps.

In some cases it may be necessary to add shielded wire from the other triode to the entrance of the PI as well.

I am looking for the EL-84 version on this and will post my current build layout w/ 1/2 power and VVR. My cabinet is quite tall so I should benefit from this info regarding the verb tank... thanks. Seems like it will be pretty straight forward. Have not had my hands on the solder iron for a while, but i do want to transition my amp to a reverb model.

Ange did you get the reverb pan number and driver number?

Accutronics 8AB2A1B (short tank, medium delay) or MOD version Korean made black in color

Hammond 1750A reverb tranny or similiar spec reverb driver.

Steve I did not make a schematic for that amp.

You can use others like the Hammond 1750A reverb driver also

Uses Normster's tone board. The only addition is a mid pot, bright switch, and gain boost switch (10uf/25v cap from V1b cathode to ground).

short reverb pan (mesa/Boogie) 8AB2A1B
input impedance - 10 ohm
output impedance - 2575 ohms
decay time - medium (1.75 - 3.0 sec.)

The power supply layout was my own which can be built to suit your need.

I need to finish the front valence and make a new faceplate this amp was make by gutting my Express 100 which I could not control to make this Rocket. All new parts used only the faceplate and chassis were used. My hat goes off to Allyn Meyer for building his great 80w Express, I couldn't.

That's funny... I was the one who created that Layout of Allyn's wreck after he posted all the gut shots.
I'm surprised you didn't go with the external bias adjustment on yours like he did.

Thanks for posting those alternative layouts of Normster's stuff I only had the one.

I did use the Bourns bias locking pot on the Express build but decided not to on this one.

Steve you should be able to produce another fine layout for this amp then

i know this thread is a little old but i did find another error on your reverb schematic... i believe the plate/anode voltage from the reverb transformer should not be connected to V6-5... would blow the filament there... maybe V6-6 along with V6-1. i know i've missed this a few times myself... not just your eyes... or maybe mine are all screwed up right now

oh yeah... did you omit the "direct out" from the schematic for a reason? i was thinking about trying it out and was just wondering why its not on the reverb schematic... how well does it work?

Yes the thread still gets a little traffic and the amp has enjoyed a steady following over the past few years. I think there must be about 25 to 20 of them out there now and several more from the real DIY guys who didn't use me as a parts supplier.

I had seen that pin number was wrong before and it was fixed in the master drawing but apparently I hadn't posted that into this thread.

I decided to move the documentation drawings from the 2nd page of the thread and add them to the original post on page one because history has indicated that it makes it immensely easier to find and refer to the layout and schematic drawings.

I did leave what I think is a decent rev. of the original layout drawing since I don't want to take away the education that went along with this project. I don't use that same layout on the Rockster amps I build or kits I sell but a later derivative of it.

Thanks for the heads-up... that is why those schematics and layouts ofter have a "Draft" or cautionary note on them. Take that to heart if it doesn't say something like tried and proven design although this one is getting pretty close these days.
