New ODS 101 n0n-HRM...

Post by Deric »

Nothing new here but some pics that may be of use to someone. Pretty much a straight up 101 non-HRM. My first 4-holer. Worked on first fire-up but sounded like ass... was all excited to hear how much better a 100 watter sounded... Had never wired the Jazz/Rock switch before and had a hard time getting my head around the schematic so I followed the 124 layout in the files section for that... Once I figured out the layout had an error in the PAB relay wiring (since corrected, Thanks Tony!!) it sounded... AWESOME!!!

Huge thanks to Henry (Heisthl), Tony, Funk, Dogears, the Bobs (Bob I and Bob W) and ALL the others who have shared here and answered WAY too may of my stupid questions! 8)

You really did a nice job on that one Deric.

BTW, did Fender make that Tele? I really like the look of that.

Deric,

Very, very nice man. You did a really fine job on soldering and wiring, so nice and neat. Love it. You've got quite a rig there! I'll bet you are getting some great tone!

Thanks Guys! This amp was a lot of fun to build. My last build was a 2-holer with a tube loop (the head in the pic) in a D Lite chassis. After that, this chassis seemed HUGE!

I bought the chassis here for a friend of mine who asked me to build him an amp a while back. When we sold our house and bought a new one last summer we ended up being homeless for about a month between closings. I asked him to keep my amp (the D Lite combo in the pic) at his house instead of putting it in a storage unit. Once we moved back in I had a hard time getting it back from him  . I told him I'd build him one when I got the chance. It was good timing as right about then the chassis run was posted here. Right after that my business was destroyed by a fire in the building. Store was a total loss...but insured. Figured it would be a good time to build an amp or two while the building was being rebuilt.

Tom- The tele is a Warmoth body with a Fender neck. I lost a couple of guitars in the fire and was thinking about building a tele. My friend I built the amp for just happened to have the body (in pretty poor shape) and the neck laying around. He's a painter so he cleaned up the body and painted it for me. Came out pretty cool - trans green with natural wood binding and black back and sides.

Yes, the relay is for the bright switch.

Chassis came from the chassis run posted here a while back. 8)

Just wondering about the 10uf cap on the V1b cathode. Did you tweak that and the pre OD filter in or just build it that way? Great looking build too!!
