Man, I get so bummed when I see those pictures and imagine all the gear that was lost.
I'll bet the musicians won't make that mistake again.
What I wonder is how in the world do they keep that place secure.
Must have been a couple million bucks worth of instruments and amps there.
I know they said they have video cameras and all but who pays when you get a rare guitar stolen from there?
I guess you would have to have your own insurance which I'll bet is a huge premium.
I've got some lake front property to sell!

Re: Nashville Flood
It isn't that expensive to insure your music equipment. 700 bucks a year will cover $250,000.
And that is a "Tools of a Trade" rate.
If you are selling 10 million records a year and doing $100k a pop shows, you are an idiot if you don't insure your shit...............
Nobody wants to lose rare or sentimental equipment. At least you could get some value depending how you insure the gear. If not, reach into your pocket again, right?
At home, you should have your home owners policy set to cover your important music items, in addition to standard personal article coverage. Still, it is reasonable. Photos, serial numbers etc......itemized list, of your gear on your policy. Then they have no excuses to not cover it.
I hate to see this kind of loss to our Brothers and Sisters...................

Re: Nashville Flood
I just heard from a good friend that Vince Gill's entire collection was at SC..My friend who used to play with Vince said he has never known him to sell a guitar.. Brad's entire collection with the exception of his Paisley Tele and Trainwreck were all lost at SC and another rehearsal studio they had in town that also flooded which took all their stage gear.. All of Keith Urban's and Brent Mason's guitars were at SC..
Lets not forget the hardest hit were the working players who were picking up whatever work they could get.. Now lost their tools to get food pay rent.. Anyone here heard of the whereabouts of Larry's Dumbles if they were there?

Probably true. I'm right on a lake in NH and can't get it. TFUCHSAUDIO wrote:I'm hearing "NO"....tough to get flood insurance next-to a river.Structo wrote: Hopefully Soundcheck has insurance to cover these losses.
Re: Nashville Flood
Actually not correct. Flood insurance is specifically so that buildings near rivers can get mortgages. FEMA will not insure you without need. Been there.FUCHSAUDIO wrote:I'm hearing "NO"....tough to get flood insurance next-to a river.Structo wrote: Hopefully Soundcheck has insurance to cover these losses.

I'm 5 feet above sea level and live on an island in a tidal marsh in Florida and had no trouble getting Federal flood insurance.

Re: Nashville Flood
Here is an example of inexpensive music equipment coverage available, from one of the numerous Insurance companies out there.
Look what $100 a year gets you..........
https://www.musicproinsurance.com/InstEquip.aspx
Keep in mind that the required insurance for "facilities" is Liability related to Personal Injury of people on the property, (or for example, if one of the facilities vehicles hit your car in the parking lot) and the structure itself.
This would be mandatory for a Mortgaged Property. If free and clear owned, and the owner of the facility is "Self Insured" they have the funds to replace the structure in the event of loss. But not necessarily the contents.
In most cases they are not liable to insure the Goods contained, unless there are Contract specs for the rented use of a space by owner(s) of the goods.
This would then be Contract Law specific, and not related to their basic Liabilty of loss to others' property. It is then the owner of the goods responsibility for their own insurance.
Not too hard to understand.

For those who don't know places like SC offer whats known as a cartage service.. Say your a working session heavy.. Nashville is loaded with studios all over town your either doing demos for new acts to give to lables or session work with whatever band your with or freelance or your one of the few who are doing master sessions the actual stuff you hear on the radio and final print.. You need your gear in 10 different places in a week.. You call the cartage give them your schedule and your gear is at the studio before you get there in the road cases or ready to go..Studios like to see you use cartage there reliable on time professional and helps you get hired.. The competition in Nashville for these spots is enormous and tone is a big deal so the gear in cartage is in most cases the best you own especially if your doing allot master sessions like Brent ..Plenty of good gear was lost here I imagine.. I am sure most got lulled into a false sense of security by simply thinking if it's in cartage it's safe and secure hell everybod's stuff is there what can happen so they pass on the insurance.. I can see that being the case for many.. Time to re-think that one huh!!
