Hi, being new here I hope I`m not beating a dead horse, LOL, but here it goes anyway. My only experience with a Wreck type amp was my 2Rock Ruby, and it was a lot of fun to play. I sold it some time ago and I`m looking for THAT tone again or better. I ordered a kit from Nik at Ceriatone minus the trannies which I`m getting from Toneslut. Can anyone who has tried the Ceriatone Express kit let me know what to expect? For tubes I have a stash of Mullard EL34`s and some Telefunken and JAN Philips 12AX7`s. Any insight good or bad is much appreaciated.
Thanks and take care. Pete

I've had two Express kits from Nik: one with Moose's trannies & one with Nik's trannies.
Both sounded great. Nik's build quality is very high. You will be impressed.
What caps & resistors did you go with?
I ended up selling both of them because they were too loud for my situation. And to take their place I'm working on completing a Liverpool (Nik build) with Moose's trannies. The Liverpool will be a keeper for me. EL84's are *my* tone. Love the el84 sound so what better way to get that in a Trainwreck package than with a Liverpool.
BTW, the person who bought my first Express owns a real 'wreck. He liked Nik's clone so much he bought the second one too (sold about 2 months apart from each other). He was going to use the second one to play around with different resistors & caps to see how much tone he could extract from the amp.
To me, that speaks highly of Nik's stuff...if someone with a real 'wreck buys two of 'em then Nik must be doing something right.

Re: Clones...2Rock Ruby vs Ceriatone kit
Thanks Rich! I went with whatever comes stock on the caps and resistors. The only mod was a PPIMV. I have an attenuator from Weber if I have to crank it past ear bleeding volume, but bought it mostly to use the line out to run a wet/dry setup with the line out. I`m really pumped about getting this going. The P.O. screwed me up cause Moose sent me the transformers, and I got the pink slip in my mailbox cause the woman was too lazy to get out of her mailtruck and walk 10 feet to my porch and drop off the box, LOL! Ah Louisiana, it`s a lot different than Boston where I moved from last year.
