heisthl wrote:What size bright cap on the master? I'm afraid if you add more bass into the OD your low notes will fuzz out and lose articulation (the bane of the non-HRM). So maybe a small reduction in the permanent bright cap or adding a series resistor feeding the PI etc. etc. to do it after the OD without ruining the clean tone in the process. You could also try increasing cK on V2b but I've never had good results with that. Hey it sounds good enough to leave it like it is - just sayin'.
Henry, I was wrong I opened the amp up today and there was no bright cap on the lead master control :).

glasman...I'm guessing that this phrase "Proud Member of IDGAFWDD" in your sig stands for

I don't give a fuck what Dumble did...

Is that right? If it is...thanks for the laugh. :D

So back to the topic at hand :).

I ended up removing the series cap on the input network and of course this added too much bass so I made a few other changes.

1. Lower the load impedance of the second OD section by about 10%.
2. Dropped the second OD stage output coupler to a .003uf
3. Added a 30pf bright cap to the Lead Master control to give it a little more zing on the top end.

It sounds good now (sings like a bird with nice thick midrange) and I will post a new clip in a couple of days. I needed to give my ears a break :).

+1
So the Reverb a Loop is a tube buffered loop + a Reverb?

Cool!

Where do you hide the tank or is it solid state?

The reverb a loop is an active effects loop with built in (post effects loop) reverb processing. I built a protoype of this about 3 or 4 years ago. Finally decided to put it in the product mix.

There are total of 5 controls for the effects section. Effects Level (mix level), mode, and 3 effect parameter controls. The mode switch provides

2 Reverbs
2 Plate Reverbs - My favorites
1 Reverse Reverb (kinda cool)
1 Spring Reverb
1 Delay
1 Modulated delay (chorus effects)

Depending on the mode, the parameter controls change reverb decay, HF damping, LF damping, delay time, pre delay, feedback etc etc.

I designed a small PCB that has all components, mode switch and parameter controls. This board mounts against the front panel of the unit. Space was an issue and this was the only option.

Other items of the design I would prefer to keep proprietary.

No tank (I tried that once, too much hum). Look back in the schematics section. The effects module is all solid state.

I posted a schematic of the original reverb a loop in the files section in 2006. MIght help others that like to experiment
