Of course, and I do appreciate that. So that there can be misunderstanding, yours was not the name that came to mind when I wrote the previous post. Furthermore, you have posted pictures (maybe in another forum, if not this one) and specific details about your own "tweaks," wich I think is indeed very cool. People give back in different ways such as sharing tweaks, sharing pictures, giving credit where credit is due, offering parts at bargain prices, etc., while others probably just soak it all up, put info in their next amp and give nothing back to the world in return. The beauty of it is that everyone knows who they are. :)

If a 'big find' is pics of another degooped Dumble, I don't think that would be of much interest to most pro builders on here. I could be wrong.
I think it's safe to say that there are at least two camps on the de-gooped pics and knowing every little detail of real Dumbles. Some want to know every little detail and some are not really all that interested in the fine details. Or at least...not interested in the 'cloning' sense but perhaps interested in a 'maybe I'll learn something' sense.

I'm not a pro builder and I'm not really interested in any de-gooped pics or fine details of any Dumbles other than those that I might learn something from. Making clones just isn't what interests me. My first foray into the ODS design had the HRM controls on the front panel and the clean tonestack automatically bypassed (something I thought of independantly but obv was not alone...seems like such a natural progression)...as well as just using a typical one-button footswitch w/LED. My first from-scratch Express had power scaling.

I also think that some new/different OD entrance network (for example) doesn't qualify as the 'next big find'...that's just the simple stuff that we all can mess around with (although some better than others ).

The 'next big find'? We guitar players are still using vacuum tubes...we no likey 'next big finds'.
I like your perspective and people like you are the reason I enjoy participating on this forum.
Learning and applying is way more fun. I still try to learn new things every day. If I didn't it would get boring.

I'm sure we'll meet at some point. I certainly have some interesting stories on that subject when we do.
My first intriductions to one of the said Companies was a phone call at home at 9.00pm from one of the owners yelling and screaming at me.
You know you have done something right when that happens...... :o

ouuu. this thread brings back bad memories. I'm the one, I believe, who was the cause of it originally. Thankfully, I've built several amps since then, and now feel somewhat qualified to hang out here.

I'm surprized you all allowed TAG to rant on about Two Rocks, ESPECIALLY, since he's not an amp builder, nor aspires to. Maybe, it's because he owns a really Dumble. That shouldn't really matter though.

FWIW: I still own the dreaded TR classis type 3, the very amp that got me in trouble here.

Ok, I'll head back to the Trainwreck forum now. 8)

Yeah, can we stop the false advertisement and focus on circuitry again?

Please remind me in the future to not feed the trolls. I won't be responding to Tag again - he rekindles old negativity that I thought I shed a long time ago.

Looks like "Politician" has become the new "Stairway to Heaven"... No reflection on you, Funk', as I thought your cover of the cover was pretty cool. When Tag plays it, it becomes cheap - a cry of "Please look at me."

If I may...

Long time lurker.

Electronics is much more than a hobby for me in general, but building amps is not really possible for many wrong reasons. Yet.

You guys are a wonderful bunch. I enjoy every minute of my reading time here.

I interjected in a few discussions, when thinking (more hoping in fact) that this could bring a little something to the group... In retrospect, I might have come across as a bit of an annoying lurker. But that is a different story... and a lame attempt at getting some positive reinforcement ;-)

My point is: there are not so many things in life that are more productive than benchtime to learn about tube amps, since what we seem to look for is well outside of the standard textbooks in terms of organic functions (think controlled feedback across a complete fingerboard, on a clean setting...). This place is. And more.

In fact, and I will say this 3 times as a mantra: This place is invaluable. This place is invaluable. This place is invaluable.

You guys are way more than a mentor. You are like an academy. No joke.

It is however my job as a pupil to learn how to discern the wheat from the chaff. I take it as my personnal drill exercise.

I hope to be able to contribute sometime in the future, even if it only has to be with silly questions... or silly attempts at an answer...

My humble suggestion: I would never be offended if a thread I started was moved to the garage talk section. I would, on the other hand, be very disapointed to see such a great place disappear.

I trully believe in straight talking and dialogue as a way to resolve conflicts. Clarifying your positions in a year long thread, voicing opinions and concerns and stimulating a debate seems like a very healthy thing to do. And so far it visibly took only a very little chunk of the bandwidth.

So, in short:

1- This is a *great* place to learn.
2- The discussions and all are a good pointer at the way things are done and gives a few hints of the local culture.
3- I am very comfortable with the current way things are handled.
4- Dunno yet how and if I can contribute.
5- Feel free to not read this post!
6- Please let me read more!!!

Hi, all here!

There are some great guys who take the trouble to run this place for the joy of many.

These guys don't charge a penny for this. And up to now no single pop-up spoils the fun.

So wouldn't it perhaps be a good idea to show them some respect and - being guests - act here in the way they asked us all to do:

https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=6570

And if you think different in regard of what kind of place this should be, wouldn't it perhaps be a good idea too to discuss this in this "sticky" thread?

And btw (no Dumbles and clones involved! guaranteed!):

Can you?

Happy New Year!
