Hardware source?

Post by Colossal »

Does anyone know a good place to get the following parts? Also, if there is an "official" name for these:

Hex-head bolts
Nylon-threaded nuts

Thanks a lot!

Those are called allen head bolts and the nuts are nylocks. They are fairly common, try the home depot or any store that sells fasteners.

I get these at a local Ace Hardware store. They have an aisle with parts bins where you can buy loose parts and pay by the piece.

Thanks guys!!

I have a well-stocked ACE near me and their loose parts aisle is impressive. Thanks for setting me straight on the nomenclature ;)

I get my nylon nuts at OSH, because they sell them in boxes of 100 for a good price.

I use lots of #6 machine bolts with locking nuts, or, as we Air Force brats call 'em, aircraft nuts.

Check the local hobby shops too. They will have an assortment of different bolts and nuts and such.
