I have noticed that the Dumbleator can cause additional noise in a amp due to the length of the leads and the design of the Dumbleator.
The amp I have used for testing is a Champ style amp. I found the noise is quite similar to a lead being plugged into an amp but not an instrument. The level of the noise varied with how the volume control is set.
What have you guys found?
Additional noise from the Dumbleator?

Re: Additional noise from the Dumbleator?
What are the levels set at?
It's noisier than w/ nothing than in the loop and that is invariably the comparison point. I like it though and it's still in the loop.
At the end of the day that all that really matters.
I just don't crank it past 2 or 3 o'clock.
I'm w/ Scott in that they are really are the missing link if people say they don't like these amps.

Re: Additional noise from the Dumbleator?
Do you mean noise or hum? If hum is the problem you mave have grounding issues.Mark wrote: I found the noise is quite similar to a lead being plugged into an amp but not an instrument.

Re: Additional noise from the Dumbleator?
I thought it might have been a grounding issue too, by I did turn off the Dumbleator and unplug it. It isn't dead quiet as if the output was fully turned down effectively shorting the input to ground. Perhaps there isn't as much gain in the remaining stages of a Dumble amp to amplify the noise, as compared to the Champ style amp. I did notice an increase in noise.
Personally, I think an effects loop mounted with the effects is crazy. Long unbuffered cable runs to the follower triode, which then has a 1 foot run (maximum) to the effects. It is asking for noise to be introduced. It should be part of the amp. That is my take on the design for what it is worth.
