Recently I did my tweak OTS (again).
What do you think about the sound?

Great playing Erwin.

Tone was decent. There were a few things I would have preferred. If you were not 100% satisfied then I'll be glad to offer a few suggestions. On the other hand, if you loved it, I loved it!! ;)

I thought it was pretty tasty Erwin!

Scott, since Erwin is interested, post your thoughts and suggestions publicly if you don't mind. I thought it sounded quite nice, but I'm still curious what you think would improve it.

Cheers!

First off, it did not have the organic bass texture one would hear in a real Dumble. Erwin confrimed my thoughts in his PM. He used a smaller V1B cap and also the OD entrance mod.

Smooth, but no growl!

Is this based on the #124 clone (100K Rplates? I'll admit I haven't kept up with the Ceriatones, etc.

Thnx all for your comments!

The character of the od is pretty much how I want it. But Scott is right the dumble growl has gone with the lower v1b cap and od entrance.
Only problem with upping V1b cap and remove the Od entrance is it's shifts the character/resonance point too low and that nice singing lead is gone. That's a masters art to get that right!

This is what I did:

My config: mods are mentioned below.
In the attachment there's is the standard OTS configuration(which was very different whern I bought it).

These are all the mods I did and which are not mentioned in attached layout:

150k Slope resistor is now a CF(was aMF)
cap across the bass pot is really a 0.001uF.(was 0.0012).
The Power supply caps( 2x100uF) are now 2x 150uF.
The coupling cap at v1b is 0.02uF.
There's a Od entrance mod: 0.047uf// 4,7M
mid boost cer. cap is 390pF
There's a Mercury Magnetics custom OT and a MM replacement Marshall choke of 10H in it.(original was 3H!)
A 33pF cer. cap across the master.
470R screen resistor for the 6L6 power tubes

Thanks Henry!
It's the first time in my modding history possible to use the neck PU of my strat with my D-clone! With bright on I can get a good SRV like tone.
