I removed polarity switch. need to check with you guys.

Post by sidehatch »

this is on my pro reverb that I had blackfaced and 3 prong cord added.

I was working on it today and noticed the tech didnt remove the polarity switch or death cap. I checked and the 3 prong cord is installed correctly.

Since I needed a hole for my neg feedback pot I removed the polarity switch and death cap but because I've never done this before I dont know where everything goes.

About the white wire that comes off of the tranny that went to the extra outlet and polarit switch: I simply took out teh polarity switch and soldered the Wire to the prong on the extra out let that the white wire on the polarity switch went to. Is this correct?

The Black wire that goes from the fuse to the polarity switch and the extra out let: I just removed the polarity switch and solder the black wired togetehr and covered them with black tape.

So I just removed the switch and kept white to white and black to black.

I tried the amp and it works but because I now have a spliced wire Im wondering if there is another way to do it?

if this is jibberish then I'll take a photo of what I've done and replave this 1000 words.

Thanks all!

Schematically, it sounds like everything is correct. Pictures tell a thousand words somebody once said, post some if you can. Sounds like you might be able to sanitize things a bit. Do you have access to a heat gun/heat shrink, or if not do you live near me?
Good Luck

I can't think of a single Oklahoma City guy who could help you out.

I tried you Craig but you said you wasn't Taking on any repairs or mods and focusing on your own amps! So, I had to take it to "the other guy"...

I figured it was you and was just poking at ya. Since Bobby moved BPG to El Reno I've been working from home and focusing on new builds. I figured you were in Nashville or CA making the big bucks by now. This town is way to small for a player with your talent(seriously). Are you still playing the Carr Slant 6V & Gibson ga19rvt at all or have you gone all fender? You can always drop stuff off at the house if you get in a fix. My new #'s on the site.

You might want to get those 35yo mallory's out of that bias supply while you're at it.
