I thought I'd post this since so many folks are convinced that a Dumble style amp doesn't work with a Strat...especially in pos. 2 & 4.
"Standard" Brownnote Bluesmaster 44 Reverb, '91 American Standard Strat. (JB Jr bridge pickup, series/parallel switching.)
Rhythm track is the clean channel, Strat neck/mid position. Lead track is just me going through various pickup selections, OD channel w/mid boost on, OD gain at about 10:00.
I played a gig last Friday with my D'Lite (BM PI) and a Strat with the Gilmour DG20 EMGs and it's KILLER! Absolutely no issues, the DG20s sound great in the Strat with my D'Lite through an EV and my take on the Kleinulator. I also split the return from the Kleinulator and run one side back to the D'Lite return and the other through a '61 Bassman head into an Altec 417. The combination is glorious and it makes up for any lack of headroom that I have with the D'lite. Funny enough, all of my guitars sound great through this rig but I could get the widest range of tones from the EMGs which I used to hate with other amps.
That is a really good demonstration of the possibilities of sound with a BM. I am not quite as much a fan of the OD on it, but the cleans are amazing. Great playing BTW.
Sounds great for your playing. You have a lighter touch than Barnel Kessel, or anyone in the world for that matter . The OD is very subtle, almost no change in tone from the clean side. Very cool stuff.
Fine playin, good tone - even if your light touch makes to tones a little glassy/brittle, but they seem to suits the fragile overtones in tubes
D-style amps are fine with strats (even pos 2 +4) if you change the mid cap from 10 nF to 47 nF, as written in many posts on this forum...it made wonders to the clean tones of my Ceriatone OTS.
Thanks for listening. Even after playing with these amps for a few years, I'm still surprised at how much tonal range the Dumble circuit has. Everytime I pick up a different guitar, it's like a new opportunity to explore all over again.

I do have a light touch, but also a bad habit of playing too soft when recording.
I've got the OD trimmer set pretty low (about 25k I think) and the gain at 10:00 o'clock so it's really just adding a bit of "texture" more than an OD sound. I'm glad you noticed the similar tone from clean to OD. That's been my preferred setting for these Bluesmasters. I try to dial in a post-OD tone that's very close to the clean tone, then add a hi-cut control in PAB to keep it from getting too spikey.
