Low watt rocket??

Post by arjepsen »

People have made a low-watt version of the express with 6sn7's and 12au7's
Anyone ever fiddle around with a low-watt Rocket?

I've got a low watt layout drawn up for one with 6AQ5's and another with 5902's.

I have two amps with triode outputs ECC99 (sorta like a 12AU7) and a 12SN7. They break up so easy that I didn't think the Rocket preamp would work well with that output... but you might find it to be different than I think it will be.

Amazing how an idea occurs in different minds, at the same time

My next build is a low watt Rocket with donor trannys from a P1 (ax84)
269EX PT
125E OT

I want to try 6SN7 output but given RJ's comments I will perhaps look into something else.

Please comment if anyone has done a poweramp section that provides some celans at low wattage

You can find a 2watt amp on www.ax84.com, which uses the 6sn7 as powertube. However, I'm not sure you can get enough volts from the 269ex for that tube... I may be completely wrong though :)
