Latest 2 builds...

Post by tubedogsmith »

Top one is one of the Natchanis chassis I got from someone here in the classified page. The chassis has been built for a while but I've had quite a wait on the box. The chassis is slightly modified for an 80's skyliner circuit. I used the boards that come with the chassis but they needed quite a bit of modding too for this circuit. Great sounding amp and the clean channel has considerably more gain than a 100 watt amp it seems. The bottom amp is one of Brandon's great chassis' built into a bluesmaster circuit. these amps are easy to get addicted too. The big, fat sustain that seems to go forever and the great way the overdrive never seems to get harsh and always has a clarity to it that's just seems so contradictory. I seldom plug into anything else anymore.

Both nice looking builds TubeDog! 8)

Coincidentally, I have two chassis waiting to be built up and I was planning to doing virtually the same builds as you've done here. What plate resistors did you go with in the Skyliner?

Beautiful amps tubedogsmith!

For the BM I don't see a 47pF across the PI plates. What plates did you end up with for the BM?

Really neat amps!

Hey, I've got one of those too! Both of 'um.

Nice looking builds. I did my '70s in a combo. Nice way to add a master volume. I think I'll do that to mine...maybe with a small silver knob.

Looking good. Nice clean work. I'll bet they sound great.

I've built 3 amps with the Bludotone chassis, it's a beautiful piece but sadly no longer available. How was the Natchanis chassis compared to Brandon's?

I've got 91k and 110k on the PI plates. I've seen that little knob on a few of the modified '70's amps so I monkeyed that idea. The Nik chassis is OK, Brandon's chassis is superb!! I have no way to do clips, wish I did. But, I use them more in the way of Warrem Haynes and Joe Bonamassa than RF and LC. Turn the OD master on the bluesmaster down to 4 and it's instant Warren Haynes with the boost on. :D
